"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

One is an old, beat up Ford worth maybe a few grand. The other is the quintessential Italian poster supercar. Naturally, I’m assuming the majority of you will be far more interested by the former.
Let the record show that I love the XR4Ti. But I’m willing to bet that I’m in the minority in preferring the Aventador.

Aventador > Mucky

I’d rather have the Aventador, because I could sell it and not work for about 5 years. Considering the going rate for one is 300-350,000 dollars. That is the real reason I’m not terribly interested in hyper cars. I just can’t imagine spending that much dough on a car. When I could buy a house, a fully equipped garage, and a small collection of cars, for the same money,

That’s the thing: nobody who buys an Aventador is closing it over a house, a fully equipped garage, and a small collection of cars. They already have those things. $400,000 is house money for you and I, but not for them.

Take Aventador, buy Mork with spare change, immediately commence horrible project to be able to swap Aventador drivetrain in and out of both cars at will.

Here I am, wishing that I could get a house for that money...or even a condo...or anything bigger than a studio. Damn Vancouver.

move to northern wi. You can buy a nice house with 40 acres and 2000 square foot Garage for 300,000 dollars, here. You just won’t be able to get a job to afford it here.

Kinda tempting, because a tear-down is worth at least 1 mil here, and there also aren’t any jobs

Granted, it is a very silly purchase, and I can see why it doesn’t make sense to a lot of people, enthusiasts and non.

Yeah, and it’s easy to say “I wouldn’t buy that even if I could afford it.” but really if I could afford it I’m sure I’d be more than tempted to buy a used one.

I dont know where you are, but good luck buying a shack for that much in the Greater Boston Area. You need twice as much to buy something reasonable.

Northern WI. You can buy a nice 1500 sq/ft house, with a big garage, and 5-10 acres for 100,000 here. Rural life is cheap, if you can find a job.

Amen! I’m having a hard time justifying spending $300 on a welder. I can’t imagine spending 1000x on a car.
